WHAT IT IS
CJC, often referred to as Mod GRF (1-29) or Tetrasubstituted GRF (1-29), is a synthetic analog of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). It consists of a 29-amino acid peptide that mimics the N-terminal portion of endogenous GHRH. Its structure is designed to interact with the GHRH receptor, a G protein-coupled receptor primarily located in the anterior pituitary gland. This peptide is modified to enhance its stability and half-life in vivo compared to the naturally occurring GHRH. These modifications involve specific amino acid substitutions to resist enzymatic degradation, allowing for a more sustained interaction with pituitary somatotrophs. CJC functions as a growth hormone secretagogue, stimulating the pulsatile release of growth hormone (GH) from the pituitary gland. It does not directly provide exogenous GH but rather promotes the body's own GH production and release, primarily by binding to and activating GHRH receptors.
