WHAT IS KISSPEPTIN?

Kisspeptin is a family of neuropeptides encoded by the KISS1 gene and investigated in the scientific literature as a central regulator of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. Kisspeptins signal through the KISS1 receptor (GPR54) to stimulate gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) secretion, thereby influencing luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), and sex-steroid production. Research spans preclinical models and human clinical studies in reproductive endocrinology.
